Kalongo, Agago District, Uganda

OASES is active at Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital, a 287-bed private not-for-profit general hospital serving approximately 500,000 people in rural Northern Uganda. Since 2024, in collaboration with Fondazione Ambrosoli, the University of Milano-Bicocca, and ASST Grande Ospedale Metropolitano Niguarda, OASES has worked with the hospital's Outpatient Department to:

• Assess emergency care capacity, redesign clinical workflows, and equip the emergency area with essential clinical resources

• Implement and evaluate a structured triage system based on the Interagency Integrated Triage Tool (IITT)

• Deliver structured training programs for local clinical and nursing staff through repeated on-site visits

• Pilot and evaluate the OASES App as a clinical decision-support tool for frontline providers through a randomized crossover simulation trial
